The focus of this course is to develop knowledge, skills and attitudes in the care of children in primary, secondary and tertiary settings. Learners will apply a concept related to Growth and Development and its deviation in all aspects of children’s health. Emphasis is placed on common health problems occurring in Pakistan and in South Asian Countries.

About Course

This course is designed to equip learners with comprehensive knowledge, practical skills, and professional attitudes required for the effective care of children across primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare settings. It provides a strong foundation in pediatric nursing and child healthcare, focusing on holistic and evidence-based approaches to child well-being.

Students will explore key concepts of Growth and Development, including normal developmental milestones and deviations that may indicate health concerns. The course emphasizes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for children at different developmental stages.

Special attention is given to common pediatric health problems prevalent in Pakistan and other South Asian countries. Learners will develop the ability to recognize, manage, and prevent these conditions while considering cultural, social, and regional healthcare contexts.

By the end of the course, students will be able to deliver safe, ethical, and child-centered care, promoting optimal physical, psychological, and social health outcomes for children and their families.

This course requires:

  • Foundational knowledge of Fundamentals of Nursing.

  • Understanding of Anatomy and Physiology (normal body structure and function).

  • Basic knowledge of Pharmacology and pharmacological principles

  • Background in Adult Health Nursing Pathophysiology and disease processes.

  • Ability to apply this knowledge to understand cancer therapies, clinical decision-making, and safe nursing care practices in adult health settings.
