No Certificate / Course on Audit Track
This course provides a practical, skill-based introduction to essential ophthalmic and optical instruments used in optometry. Through four focused modules, students develop core competencies in assembling and troubleshooting optical setups using the trial box, performing objective refraction via retinoscopy, conducting systematic retinal examinations with a direct ophthalmoscope, and carrying out detailed anterior segment assessments using a slit lamp.
The curriculum emphasizes hands-on clinical application, enabling students to measure basic optical properties, interpret clinical reflexes, and recognize normal ocular anatomy. By integrating foundational theory with supervised practical training, the course equips learners with the skills necessary for real-world clinical and technical practice in optometry and vision sciences.
This course has been curated by Riphah International University faculty and staff using publicly available third-party content and Open Educational Resources (OER) for self-paced learning. Learners will engage with curated open-access materials to achieve the course learning outcomes. All third-party content is used under open-access or fair-use policies, while any original materials are developed specifically for this learning experience.
