Toxidromes and Emergency Poison Management

This course introduces the systematic classification of poisons and the clinical framework of toxidromes. It covers the definition and classification of poisons by chemical nature, origin, mechanism, and route of exposure; the recognition and differentiation of the five major toxidromes (anticholinergic, cholinergic, sympathomimetic, opioid, and sedative-hypnotic); and the initial clinical approach to the undifferentiated poisoned patient including antidote use and syndrome-directed management. The module uses a curated video lecture from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School as its primary content unit.

About Course

This course provides a comprehensive understanding of toxidromes and the emergency management of poisoning cases commonly encountered in clinical practice.
